Import Sony F5/F55 XAVC files to PowerDirector for Smooth Editing

"I've tried to get 1080p XAVC footage from an F5 to work in PowerDirector 12. It imports, but when I try to do anything with it, it crashes. If anything I missed? What's the matter? Any suggestion is appreciated! Thank you..."

More than one person has reported that they once encountered annoying issues when importing Sony F5/F55 XAVC footage into PowerDirector for further editing. Well, according to our multiple testing, we have found two main basic reasons behind here. Firstly, the XAVC footage recorded from Sony F5/F55, doesn't seem to ideal editing-friendly format for PowerDirector by far. What's more, PowerDirector can handle (usually) 4K files without much problem although, but it is extremely hardware intensive. To solve all problems, the easy workaround is to downscale and convert XAVC to a more editing-friendly format, such as MPEG-2 for PowerDirector. Converting Sony F5/F55 XAVC video for editing in PowerDirector

Step 1: Run the Sony XAVC to PowerDirector Converter you just set up. Drag and drop the F55 or Sony F5 XAVC files to the Converter. You can also hit Add files button to import videos to the app.

Step 2: Select output format. Click "Format" menu firstly and then follow "Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas" > " MPEG-2 (*.mpg)" as the output format. MPEG-4, WMV are also the proper choices.

Tip: You can click "settings" button in the main interface to customize the output video's parameters, such as resolution, frame rate, etc.

Step 3: Now press "Convert" and let it go. The XAVC to PowerDirector Converter supports batch conversion, so if you have lots of xavc videos to convert, check 'Shut down computer after conversion', and you can go away without keeping an eye on it.
