Guide on Importing AVCHD .MTS files to iMovie

Technically, the iMovie video editing application that comes with Apple's iLife suite lets users import MTS files into the application directly from a camcorder. But in fact, not all AVCHD camcorders are recognized by iMovie. And there is no way to import single .MTS to iMovie that you have previously transferred from the camera to computer as the file structure has changed and iMovie won't accept them. Importing an MTS file into iMovie application is not as easy as importing a MOV movie file anyhow.

If you have some problems when trying to import MTS clips to iMovie produced by Sony, Canon, Panasonic, etc. camcorders, you'll have to convert MTS to iMovie friendly video format like AIC .mov, so that these MTS videos can be accepted by iMovie (iMovie 11) natively.
