How to get Avid Media Composer working with M2T files

M2T, a kind of High-definition video recording format which is used widely by many HD camcorders and is commonly known as "HDV". It is used to store HD videos data on DV and MiniDV tapes by MPEG-2 compression. M2T files also can support resolutions of 720p and 1080i.

The programs that open the M2T file:

    On Windows:
    Microsoft Windows Media Player
    Adobe Flash Professional CS6
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
    Roxio Creator NXT Pro
    Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip
    Sony Vegas Pro 12

    On Mac:
    Apple iMovie 11
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
    Roxio Toast 11

M2T files can be supported by many softwares on Windows or Mac. But we can easily notice that the Avid Media Composer is not included. That's the reason why so many users met the importing problem while trying to open and edit M2T files in Avid.

"My problem deals specifically with 60i HDV footage shot using a Canon XH-A1 while simultaneously recording onto a Citidisk hard drive as a .m2t file. I import the file into AVID, but I get the error message. Does the .m2t file need to be converted before I bring it into Avid?"

In order to make M2T file compatible with Avid perfectly, you need a third party program to transcode M2T file to DNxHD codec first. Here Brorsoft M2T to Avid Converter for Mac is highly recommended to you which can support and convert the videos to Avid with reserving the best original quality of the video. What's more, there are also many other preset output formats for you to choose, such as FCP, Adobe Premiere, iMovie, Sony Vegas and so on. You also can convert your video to play on smart phone, portable devices or TV.
