What's Dxtory? Simply put, Dxtory is an amazing and powerful game capture programs. Compared with other game recording software, the most stunning features of Dxtory is its ability to record videos up to 120 frames per second, which contributing to a higher video quality and a smoother look. However, Dxtory records videos only in AVI format, which would be a large file size and just is bad overall for what you do. So if you want to import recorded Dxtory videos into Final Cut Pro or other editing software for making them stylish, you would encounter similar problems like below:

"I am recording a game play with Dxtory and I feel no lag at all when recording from the game. The videos are saved as .avi and play fine in VLC. But when I'm trying to get Dxtory AVI into FCP 7 for further editing, it seems to crash almost every time!"

In fact, Dxtory is fine for capture videos with AVI file extension, but the problem is that AVI file recorded from Dxtory is actually a container rather than a format. And the video and audio contained inside might be made up of any other codecs... provided that the video and audio codecs inside the container are unmatched with Final Cut Pro X/7/6, then FCP won't accept it at all. In this case, an ultimate solution is to convert the Dxtory AVI footage to ProRes, which ensures the maximum editing quality and efficiency when working with FCP X/7/6.

In order to finish your task, here I highly recommend you adopt Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac. After applying it, there's no need to set the codec by yourself: the program has different optimized ProRes presets for FCP.
