Transferring MP4 footage from Sony PMW-EX1/PMW-EX3 to Premiere Pro

Sony PMW-EX1 and PMW-EX1 are the highweight professional camcorders in the range of XDCAM EX camcorder which use a newly developed "SxS PRO memory card based on rapidly-growing ExpressCard industry standard, as its recording media. Combining the moderate bit rate of MPEG-2 Long GOP compression, Sony is adopted with new XDCAM-EX intraframe codec and newly designed 1/2-inch type “Exmor” CMOS Sensors.

The PMW-EX1/EX3 can shoot images and record videos in 1080P, 720P and 1080i HD resolutions. Owing to its different video codec, most users get the original MP4 files rewrapped with the help of the Sony's XDCAM EX Clip Brower which can edit metadata and transfer the media to a hard drive for later importation to edit in Adobe Premiere. However, the users still met the problem while importing the rewrapped Sony PMW-EX1/EX3 XDCAM files or original MP4 footage into Premiere Pro.

“I would like to edit the MXF files in Adobe Premiere which is from Sony PMW-EX1. The original videos are XDCAM files. But neither rewrapped MXF files nor XDCAM files can be supported by Adobe Premiere. Help me. I am in deadline. Thank you!”

“How can I import the PMW-EX3 files in Adobe Premiere? I always got an error message. It’s frustrating. Help me out. Thank you!”

Well, there is an easy yet efficient way to fix these issues. You do not need to rewrap the original MP4 files at all.
