When you try to import VOB to After Effects (CS4/CS5/CS6/CC) for editing, you may meet some problems. For example, all VOB files (may be in the Video_TS folder) are greyed out that you can not import them into timeline at all. Or AE just gives an error message to you: "Unsupported format or damaged file". Why users can not get VOB and After Effects to play nicely?

Actually, After Effects currently supports a few video formats, like AVCHD, MOV, AVI, MPG. However, VOB is basically a MPEG-2 video file which is stored in Video_TS folder. Moreover, this kind of video file usually contains one or several audio tracks and subtitle tracks that are multiplexed together into one stream form which is not so easy to be afforded directly on PC or Mac, let alone in NLEs.
